November Website Update

With the balmy weather last week and the wild weather today, who knows what is round the corner! The festive season is looming and weather aside, we've been busy putting together our autumn collections which include some new products as well as some old favourites.

First up are the adorable felt designer tape measures. There are three designs to choose from and these plus a set of markers and a gift bag would make a great stocking filler or swap present. Choose from bunny, owl and the cute Russian doll.

We've more project bags in from NicsKnots and also Nics DPN rolls which are just gorgeous.

After much searching for a snag free stitch marker, we've found what we think is the answer. Tough little elastic bands in a choice of neon colours or candy pastels, these markers fit up to a size 6mm needle and are a bargain at 75p for a pack of 10.

We've also added more kits to our popular 'Make your own stitch marker' range. Each kit comes with everything you need to make 10 markers, including instructions and you just need to supply a couple of tools and some creativity. There are also options for making crochet markers and earrings.

There are also some limited supplies of back copies of UK knitting magazines, including Let's Knit, Knitting and Simply Knitting. International buyers, please contact us first before buying to obtain the correct postage.
As always, our stocks of these products are limited and we expect these ones to sell fast!
Best Wishes
Emma :-)

October Limited Edition Stitch Markers

Shop, shop, shop! Limited Edition Stitch Markers now available!
The new beads are here and I've been busy designing some new stitch markers which I'm really excited about! Having spent last weekend moving from one craft event to another including the Welsh Bead Fair and Creative Stitches show in Cardiff, I've managed to unearth some amazing beads and incorporate them into marker designs that are now available on the website. They are extremely limited in quantity and so this will be on a first come, first served basis. Good Luck!

Nicsknots Drawstring bags now available at Atomic Knitting!

We are very excited to announce that the lovely drawstring bags that are handmade by Nicsknots are now available to purchase from Atomic Knitting.
All Nicsknots sock project bags are handmade in the UK using a variety of funky printed fabric and fully lined with recycled cream material. With its drawstring, just pop your knitting in here and off you go.

Also ideal for knitting groups where you don't want your yarn rolling around on the floor but it keeps falling off your knee; pop the yarn in here and the problem is solved

With a circular base, this bag stands flat rather than some bags which have no proper 'base' and is loads bigger than most sock knitting bags. It's positively massive inside. The bags measures 15cm across the base and 17cm tall. (5.5 x 6.5 inches)

We've selected some amazing bags such as the Russian doll print bag £10, which can be further accessorised with the Russian doll stitch markers which are now available in selected colours in sets of 3 from £4.95.
We also love the funky cat print on this bag - a must for any cat loving knitter £10.

And of course our collection would not be complete without a cupcake bag £10. Launching today in celebration of the end of National Cupcake Week....yes really!

Perfect for gift giving - simply team up with some stitch markers, yarn, needles or crochet hooks.

Fashion Colours For Autumn 2009

With contrasts of the warmer pastel tones with the more subdued tones these Autumn/Winter 09 colours reflect both the mood of the economic climate and the optimism of what is to come. With the key trends this season being over the knee boots, capes and cloaks, military style jackets, along with ripped denim, ripped stocking and tights and see through clothing, there's plenty of scope to design your own piece of jewellery to match these trends and colours.

Last weekend saw Atomic Knitting at Wonder Wool Wales in Builth Wells. We had a fabulous time and met some amazing people and made some new friends too! Here's a picture of the stall and all the goodies on it! The stall took over 5 hours to set up and unpack everything, which I really wasn't expecting, but I think it's worth it. Many Thanks to Becky at Purple Sparkle Crafts for supplying the most amazingly scented cupcake candles that drew a lot of attention from the crowds! More of Becky's scrumptious candles and melts can be found here
We spent the weekend camping in the field behind the showground, which was not bad actually, as the weather was mild and the rain held off. We ended up at the Little Chef for tea on the saturday night as we couldn't find a pub that we thought we could get into dressed as we were! I can highly recommend the fish and chip shop in the centre of Builth - was the only take out eatery open at 9pm when we had finished setting up.

Taking Stock

It's been a busy few weeks with the end of the accounting year, which means the dreaded annual stock take that can take from a few hours to a few days. As each year goes by the number of beads to count gets higher! Anyway, I think I'm done now, so that's out of the way for another year.

Also been spending a fair bit of time getting organised for the Wonderwool 09 event in Builth Wells at the end of the month. The stall structure is now in place, as is the lighting and now it's just making sure I have enough stock to take. The stall will be a mix of loose beads and pendants, jewellery, wool, needles, stitch markers and accessories - so quite a few things to sort out!

It's All Gone A Bit Cupcake!

OK well I think it's now verging on an obsession...cake....well cupcakes to be exact. I've always loved making them, and sometimes they get iced if they are around long enough before I eat them.

Over the summer I had Becky's Purple Sparkle Crafts cupcakes in stock, which were just amazing - the bead studio always had a lovely aroma and these proved popular with the customers too!

So it was no surprise that one of my Chistmas presents this year was this gorgeous Radley bag with cupcakes on! How fabulous!
And then of course I happen across these tea towels whilst out shopping yesterday, which I have of course dedicated to my pink themed utility room.
Cupcakes everywhere! I wish!

Snow Days

What a weird week! Snow, Ice, uncertainty on travel conditions including both Severn bridges being shut, and still getting over a nasty chest infection. Normality and routine are nowhere in sight!

The chooks woke up to this, and refused to step outside for any food, which just resulted in me feeling extremely sorry for them and making them porridge in their eglu or should that be igloo!

I had been following the snow events on Twitter, which was fascinating to see the use of the #uksnow tag and the amazing Ben Marsh who created a real time map of where it was snowing - brilliant - I love Twitter!

She's Back!

After some considerable work, here she is!

Still much more to do though!

Argh! Beads Everywhere!

This is Pheobes, otherwise known as Trouble with a capital T.

Looking particularly mischiveous here after getting into the bead studio and wreaking havoc with the seed beads which are now all over the floor...hundreds of them!!!
